The easing of restrictions in Victoria continues to allow us to get back to some normality in our daily lives. We do however need to remain extremely vigilant and continue to follow the strict hygiene protocols of wearing face masks, hand sanitising and social distancing wherever possible. Despite the state government easing the wearing of face masks, this doesn’t change our workplace rules on masks. Our COVID plan lodged with Worksafe requires us to still need to wear masks while on site. We only need to look at what has occurred in South Australia to be reminded how quickly the virus can return. We can ill afford to have a shutdown in our factory at this time, especially when we’re desperately focused on producing product for our customers and keeping out of stocks to an absolute minimum.
Our other focus is to maintain a safe working environment for all employees. Safety is everyone’s responsibility and an extra few minutes to assess your work environment prior to starting production reduces the risk of something going wrong. As we’re increasing intensity in production, it’s also important to remain focused on how we produce our products and ensure that QUALITY standards and procedures are maintained. We can’t afford to make any errors with regards to recipes and using the correct inclusions, as mistakes are costly both in time and money. Both safety and quality are particularly important to keep in mind as we’re juggling the commissioning and production needs of the business. We’ve made some key changes to our production scheduling while we try and finalise the commissioning of the bulk filler on Fridays and Saturdays.
Our sales result in October was wonderful considering all the challenges we’ve faced. It’s a testament to every employee for your commitment to helping the business recover from the impact of the COVID lockdowns.
Thank you all for your tremendous effort and commitment over this period.
The sales and innovation team developed two new flavours for Maggie Beer, a Boysenberry White Choc and a Barossa Sherry and Raisin. These new flavours received excellent feedback from the Maggie Beer team, including Maggie Beer herself. It was a wonderful team effort from everyone involved.
This week’s ice cream van is a Mr Whippy from 1964!
