Our factory has been getting a summer facelift
While COVID has thrown a spanner in everyone's 2020 plans, some exciting things are happening at Everest and we wanted to share the news ahead of summer.
WHAT'S HAPPENING?
We’ve invested in new equipment and the team have been busy installing it just in time for summer. While we’re very proud of the ice cream we create, we saw an opportunity to make our products better and more consistently - so that your customers are getting the same delicious mouthful, scoop after scoop. Unfortunately, the installation was delayed as our machinery was held up in Italy due to COVID. So, we’re having to install a little closer to summer than planned, which is causing some of the out-of-stocks you may be experiencing.
IS YOUR ICE CREAM CHANGING?
No, we’re not changing the recipes of our fabulous ice creams, but they may look slightly different than you’re used to seeing. For the last 60 years we’ve been manually filling our tubs with ice cream, hand packing them into cartons and shipping them out to you. This new machinery takes our quality to the next level, enabling us to make every single tub as consistently delicious as the next. Each flavour produced on this new line will be scooped, tasted, measured and weighed to ensure that we’re producing to the same high quality you've come to expect from us.
While it’s still early days, some of the product changes we’re noticing so far are:
- The look of our ice cream will now be a more consistent shape and fill level
- Some of our inclusions needed to be smaller so they could run through the equipment, but we haven’t changed the overall % the product. For example, we'll now have smaller choc coated almonds in our Irish Nut Cream, but there’s still 8.5% of them in the tub.
- Our ripples will now be more evenly dispersed through the ice cream, so that you’re getting that delicious ripple flavour hit in every scoop
- The cardboard boxes are also slightly different. They’re a similar dimension and are still made from the same recycled cardboard as always.
